Who we are

Andrew Mitchell

Business Analyst

Andy is primarily focused on client relationships and understanding of business processes.

Andy began his working life as a commercial management trainee at a steel company in the West Midlands - a new role created by the MD who wanted to provide a comprehensive introduction to every aspect of his business. Over the next two years, Andy worked in every department, from the shop floor to finance.

“By my mid-twenties I had developed a deep understanding of how businesses worked; I was very lucky to be given that foundation.”

He was head-hunted by a large steel firm in Manchester, which was in the process of being turned around under the leadership of a former McKinsey consultant. The two formed a team and Andy deepened his understanding of business processes and strategy.

After various sales and management jobs, a year working on the board of a steel company, and another year living in New Zealand on a yacht, Andy became a business consultant specialising in the engineering and distribution sectors. And so Bredon West was formed - a consultancy focused on solving business strategy and processes challenges with technology solutions.

“For our clients, we are problem solvers. We are like an extension to their business. We believe in finding the best possible solution to their problem - whether it is off-the-shelf, pre-existing software or building something from the ground up.”

James Mitchell

Technology Consultant

James brings extensive experience and knowledge of software, as well as a background working in large corporates and the financial sector.

James started out as an equity analyst in investment banking, specialising in the technology sector. His role also included advising on corporate finance, helping companies with buy-outs and mergers, raising capital in stock markets and interacting with their shareholders.

His immersion into the world of software led him to take a master's degree in Computer Science at Bath University.

“It is a discipline which involves learning how to solve problems - it’s this coupled with exposure to a wider range of technology which makes it much easier and quicker to provide cost-effective solutions for clients.”

He then became a researcher at the university, specialising in what he describes as ‘big science’, in particular for major technology companies that needed a better understanding of how people interact with the technologies they use. Projects he worked on included wireless network security, privacy and trust.

Seeking a fresh challenge James joined forces with his brother Andy at Bredon West. Today he leads the work of designing and implementing technology solutions for clients, be it with Salesforce, business intelligence solutions or customising ERPs.
